Lateral Connections - Worst Contributors of Infiltration and Root Intrusion
ASTM standards acknowledge main liners are not water tight when cut to make a lateral connection with a house service line.
Lining the main simply transfers infiltration and root intrusion to the lateral connection when mainline ingress points are
eliminated.
Sealing the lateral connection and first joint is now an integral component of systematic mainline rehabilitation programs -
typically eliminating 75% - 95% of private source infiltration without lining the entire lateral.
No Digging No Disruptions No Homeowner Involvement
Interfit USA is a full main wrap (360°) Cured-In-Place (CIP) lateral connection seal installed from the sewer main
during live flow using the nearest manhole. Developed in 2003, Interfit forms smooth, lipless transitions with the
existing pipe or liners, leaving a minimal reduction in cross sectional area. Interfit can be used in the widest range
of junction configurations, is ASTM 1216 compliant and is available for:
- Mainline diameters: 6, 8, 10 and 12 inches
- Lateral diameters: 4 & 6 inches
- Lateral angles: 0 to 180 degrees
- Lateral insertion length: 1", 12" or 20"
The patent pending installation apparatus was engineered to allow it to be installed in the widest range of non-standard
junctions. That means fewer dig-ups, lower cost, less community disruption and faster project completion.
